Eminem announced his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), set for release this summer. During the NFL Draft, a trailer for the album was revealed with Eminem and members of the Detroit Lions. It features a true crime reporter discussing the demise of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, stating, “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the blonde anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”
50 Cent, Eminem’s collaborator, adds, “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.” The trailer implies that Slim Shady’s controversial lyrics and actions may have led to his murder. Eminem appears at the end, remarking, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.” Dr. Dre hinted at the album’s release on Jimmy Kimmel Live, stating, “I got songs on it and it’s fire.” Eminem’s previous album, Music to Be Murdered By, was released in 2020.
