Charli XCX says her next album is heading in a different direction, with rock taking the place of the club-driven sound that defined her last era. In a recent interview, she explained that the dance floor feels finished for now, and that shift is shaping the music she is making next.

She also shared that guitars are playing a bigger role in the new material. The change follows the breakout success of Brat, a project that pushed her further into the center of pop culture with its sharp electronic production and party-heavy energy. This time, the mood appears more raw and direct.

The move does not sound like a rejection of her past work as much as a reset after a major creative peak. Artists often pivot after a defining album, and Charli seems ready to test a new sound while keeping the bold attitude that made her recent music connect so widely.

For now, there is no full release timeline in place. Still, her comments make one thing clear: the next chapter is already taking shape, and it may be louder, rougher, and far less interested in the club.
